For The Love of Writing by Claire Krackow

I write because it is a way for me to express my words into a digital context; ever since I was younger, I loved to write short non-fiction stories. I never saw myself as a writer until I went to high school and took a journalism class. It was then that I realized I had a strong passion for not only creative writing, but feature writing, too. I like to write editorials mostly; it is great to be able to give advice and share my opinions with others. I also enjoy writing about non-fiction, basically, stories I make up.
It has always been a dream of mine to be a romance novelist. Although I am a Public Relations major, that dream is still ingrained in my mind and I would like to pursue that dream at some point in my life. I’ve written short stories, feature stories, sports articles, etc. I have taken many writing classes throughout my college career where I have learned about the different ways to write and put my skills to work. As I mentioned before, I would like to write romance novels, I love to read them and I think of myself as a hopeless romantic so I have creative ideas of what I would write.
I am inspired by Nicholas Sparks; his work is so intriguing and leaves me wanting to know more; I can never put the book down when it comes to reading his novels. I am also inspired by all the English professors I have had throughout my college career that have helped me to improve my writing and gave critical feedback (shoutout to Joyce Anderson!).
My favorite way to write is brainstorming my ideas and putting them on paper, after I have a basic list of my ideas, I put them in paragraph for and get to work! I struggle sometimes with writer’s block which I think is normal, I have a hard time committing to a topic and finding valid information to back the topic up. The hardest part is getting started, once I start, I usually cannot stop. I am so blessed that writing is such a large part of my life and is valued so much at Millersville University.
