Why I Write
By Kellie Keener
I like to write about comic books and Tolkien, or generally geeky topics. That’s what I’m very passionate about as far as hobbies go. There are hundreds if not thousands of people who have written about these things but I want to give my perspective too. Even if just one person reads what I’ve written that’s okay because at least I got my thoughts out.
That’s part of the reason I enjoy writing. Thoughts can stop bouncing around my head and take some sort of coherent shape. It empties headspace out for some new ideas.
I also like to write for myself. I keep a combination journal and scrapbook so I can remember things that have happened to me. It’s nice to be able to look back and see what happened in my life over the past few years. I can see the progress I’ve made as well as fun memories I’ve had.
It can also be embarrassing to read things I wrote years ago and realize how bad of a writer I was. Of course I’ll probably look at my current writing years from now and think it’s bad. Maybe that’s a good thing- I’ll have a record of the improvements I’ve made with my writing.
