Reflection: Electronics

Reflection: Electronics

I knew a lot about electronic circuits before completing the assignment and activity.  I went to Lebanon County CTC and studied Electrical Technology, where we learned a lot of electrical theory.  We actually did this same activity in that class that I did here.  I spent a year and a half doing electrical work from running conduit to shadowing more experienced workers and learning about different electrical devices and circuits.

I experienced a couple of things in the assignment.  I experienced frustration because I realized that I cut my copper tape too short and then I had to get a new one and start all over.  I also experienced satisfaction because I was one of the first ones to figure out a good way to do it and complete the circuit.  I enjoyed working on it.  I made a reindeer (Rudolph) where on the front of my circuit card, I drew a reindeer and cut a hole where the nose would be for the red LED light.  I also colored it because Professor Painter told me to add some color to it.

I didn’t really learn a whole lot just because I’ve done this exact assignment before, except with more LEDs and stricter use of materials.  It was a nice review of the idea of cathodes and anodes (which one is positive and which one is negative).  I also enjoyed the creative aspect of it.  In the future, if I’m ever interested in making holiday cards, I think this would be a pretty cool thing to do.
