Update on PennDot Route 999 Overlay–Expect Traffic Delays

Update on Road Construction Projects

PennDot has updated their road plans for the milling of Rt. 999 to now begin on Thursday, August 22.  The entire job may take up to 3-4 weeks (weather permitting). There will be no work on Saturdays or Sundays.  Work will begin at the Rt. 999 intersection/light and work towards Central Manor Road (Manor Township).  Paving will actually begin on Monday evening, August 26, which will include night paving throughout that week, then it will shift to days. The total project includes about 3.5 miles from the traffic light to Central Manor Rd.  It is expected that at least one lane of traffic to remain open, during these construction issues, but traffic movements will certainly be impacted.  Please allow ample time to travel around this area.

Note: regarding ANOTHER street project in the borough, as of August 21, we are also awaiting for the exact date for a new West Frederick Street construction project to commence. The University has been told it will most likely NOT occur until late August (at least after Aug. 26). When the new date is announced, for the West Frederick Street project, another e-communication will be shared.  There will be a detour route for this project, since it will take 2-3 months to complete.
