Welcome back from spring break. Please be reminded that the renovation of the Student Memorial Center will continue throughout the spring semester. The project is scheduled for completion in August, just before the start of the fall 2011 semester; but, I am excited to inform you that another phase of the project is near completion. The Dining Services staff are working as quickly as possible to test out new equipment, and they plan to have meals provided in the new Galley no later than April 1st. In the meantime, the seating area of The Galley is available for use by students for meetings, socializing, or relaxation. You may choose to sit and watch one of the many flat screen televisions, use your laptop, or meet a friend for some down time in between classes.

Other areas of the main floor are also available for study, and general use. You may enter the building using the entrance just in front of the bookstore, or for easy access to the Fitness Center you may enter through the new tower entrance. The staff at the information desk are on-hand to answer any question you may have about use of the facility. A computer lab is located just beyond the Bookstore, across from the Banking Center; and just down the hall, across from the Galley, is the new home of the Pennsylvania State Employee Credit Union (PSECU), and the new Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs.

The staff located in the Student Memorial Center invite you to return to the Center. I hope that you will find the new spaces to be supportive of your learning experience. The next phase of the project will bring the completion of meeting rooms on the upper level of the building, a Smoothie Bar on the main floor, the new Student Programs and Student Senate offices and meeting spaces, and the renovation of the 1st floor which will offer new meeting rooms and the office for The Snapper Newspaper.

I ask for your patience as we work to bring all of these new elements together during these next several months.

Please contact 717-872-3510 should you have any questions on how you may make the most of The Student Memorial Center. I wish you all the best and much success as you complete the academic year.
