2010 Millersville Community Parade

On Saturday, October 23, the Millersville Community Parade will be held throughout the borough of Millersville, which will directly affect traffic patterns relative to the MU campus. The parade begins at 9:00 a.m. and will continue for approximately 3 hours. Primarily, George Street is affected during this time period, as are several other roads in the borough. George Street will close at approximately 8:45 a.m. There will be NO parking permitted in front of the Student Memorial Center, nor on George Street, Landis Avenue and Herr Avenue, beginning at 12 midnight, October 22 through Saturday, October 23, 1:00 p.m.
The 2010 Millersville Community Parade is one of the largest ever in their history with over 2300 people participating! The two-mile parade begins at Penn Manor High School, travels onto Herr Avenue, then onto Landis Avenue, turning left onto George Street and finally onto James Street. It will conclude on James Street. Over 170 entries, including 16 floats, 20+ fire apparatus vehicles, mascots, antique cars and trucks, marching groups, university organizations, 70 live animals (horses/dogs/sheep and goats), 15 bands and more will be on hand.
All student, faculty and staff are reminded to allow ample time in travel arrangements during this time period.
Please alert all respective entities that a detour will be in effect throughout the borough during the parade hours on Saturday, October 23.
