Electronics Reflection:
Going into this assignment, I had a decent amount of prior experience. My engineering class covered basic electronics principles, and my robotics class dove into the practical applications of said principles. We learned about basic circuitry, like what we covered in class, as well as how to wire small remote-control cars. Currently, I am taking a class called Energy and Powe Systems, in which we just finished a circuitry unit. We covered different types of wire, how to wire a receptacle, and how to identify and draw wire diagrams. Overall, I feel I had decent grasp of the subject going into the assignment.
In the beginning of the assignment, we covered basic circuitry and developed our own rudimentary switches using minimal materials. We had cardstock paper, foil, paper clips, wire, a battery, and a light bulb. We were tasked with making a small switch to turn on the light and to document our process on the handout given prior. After this introduction, we were told to make a decoration using similar switches to the ones we made earlier. I feel we should have gone more in depth and expanded on what we did the first day. In conclusion, I feel I did not learn much this lesson. It felt surface level and like what I did in my early years of high school. I think we should have gone more in depth and attempted more complex circuitry instead of a simple single-pole single-throw switch with a bulb. The second day of the assignment did not add any depth either, as we basically just copied what we did the day before, but put a decoration on it.
