AEST Supports EPPIIC Academy Program

On Friday, April 8, eighth grade students from the Hazel I. Jackson Middle School visited Osburn Hall to learn about engineering and technology careers. During their visit they toured the laboratory facilities and screen printed their own commemorative t-shirt. Undergraduate students in the Graphic Communication and Technology & Engineering Education programs, along with Prof. Donna Painter, participated in this event.

The middle schoolers visit to explore college programs was part of Millersville University’s EPPIIC Academy. The EPPIC Academy aims to reduce drop-out rates and improve college attendance for eighth graders in the School District of Lancaster, by providing positive pre-college experiences. EPPICC Academy is an initiative created by—Abby Gabner, MSW student and Executive Associate in the Office of VP for Student Affairs & Enrollment Management; Heather Girvin, Associate Professor School of Social Work; Darlene Newman, Director of Student Access & Support Services, and Christina Williams, Assistant Director of Student Access & Support Services—and is funded by a Positive Energy Grant.
