‘Ville Notice Jan. 28, 2021

’Ville Notice | January 28, 2021

ALERTS FOR MILLERSVILLE UNIVERSITY FACULTY, STAFF AND STUDENTS

The Incident Management Team (IMT) wants to keep our campus up-to-date on the latest information we have regarding the COVID-19 vaccine. Our goal is to present the facts as they are currently known through confirmed sources.

We encourage those interested in being vaccinated to try to get the vaccine on their own from a vaccine distribution site. The Pennsylvania Department of Health has a list of where residents can get vaccinated. While our hope is to offer the vaccine to faculty and staff in the future, we do not know the timeline or if we will become a vaccine distribution site.

The IMT is following recommendations from the Pennsylvania Department of Health and the federal government. Pennsylvania is currently in Phase 1A of vaccine distribution and our understanding is that Millersville employees (under the category of “education workers”) will be eligible for the vaccine in Phase 1B. Our students, without underlying health conditions, are scheduled to receive the vaccine in Phase 2.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) says, “The U.S. vaccine safety system ensures that all vaccines are as safe as possible. Safety is a top priority while federal partners work to make this and other COVID-19 vaccines available.” More information on the safety of the vaccine is available on the CDC website.

The IMT is working diligently to acquire detailed information while also trying to secure vaccine for staff and faculty. In the event that Millersville University does acquire vaccine for faculty and staff, we are preparing an opt-in list for those interested in being vaccinated.  In the next day, you will receive an email from Surveys@millersville.edu with a link to be added to the Millersville University vaccination list. Supervisors, please make sure your employees have access to this information.

Adding your name to the MU list does not guarantee a vaccination. This is why the IMT is recommending that anyone interested in being vaccinated do so as soon as an opportunity presents itself. We recommend that you get your name on as many vaccination lists, with as many providers, as possible.

Attention Faculty Members: After soliciting names, emails and phone numbers from faculty, the IMT and APSCUF became aware that additional information (birth date and driver’s license number) is being requested from vaccine providers when scheduling appointments. Therefore, all faculty who are interested in being placed on the vaccine request list should complete the new survey even if you’ve already sent Kim Martin your information. We apologize for this inconvenience.

We encourage all members of the Millersville University community to become vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus as soon as it is possible to do so.

Questions can be directed to reportcovid@millersville.edu.

Warm regards,

Drs. Victor DeSantis and Duane Hagelgans

Co-Chairs IMT
