Update to IT issues and slow internet connections:

While PennREN, Millersville’s primary internet service provider, continues to repair the damaged fiber cable, the backup internet service is operating at near normal capacity. While IT does not expect any prolonged downtime, there may be small interruptions to service. PennRen has not provided an estimate for when the repairs will be finalized at this time.

ALERTS FOR MILLERSVILLE UNIVERSITY FACULTY, STAFF AND STUDENTS

At 3:30 a.m. Millersville University’s Information Technology department was informed that a fire in Philadelphia has severed fiber optic cables that provide internet service to the larger Delaware Valley region including the Lancaster area.  As a result, Millersville University’s primary internet circuit is unavailable. The campus is running on our redundant internet connection, which provides limited bandwidth. Users will experience slower connection speeds.

The Ware Center’s internet is unavailable at this time.

Engineers are on-site repairing the damage.

The estimated time of repair is unknown at this time.
