A Message from the President: Las Vegas Tragedy

I’m sure that many of you are following the news of the horrific event in Las Vegas where a gunman killed over 50 people and injured more than 400 at an outdoor concert last night.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to all of the people affected by this tragic event.

Senseless acts of violence seem to be increasing in our nation and in our world.  Such deplorable actions cannot be justified.   These acts are offensive to all of us, and we must condemn them in the strongest possible terms.

Some of you might be going away next week for Fall Break.  I urge you to be aware of your surroundings.  Look out for one another.  If you are in a situation where you are uncomfortable or feel that something is not right, please report it to the proper authorities.

Finally, though this tragedy happened in a distant location, the enormity of this act might leave you feeling uncertain and overwhelmed.  Our Counseling Center is located on the third floor of Lyle Hall. You can make an appointment by calling 717-871-7821.
