McNairy Library’s Research Fellows program at Millersville University provides an opportunity for undergraduate students to participate in independent research projects while serving as peer mentors within their disciplines. Fellows are selected through a competitive process and work closely with subject librarians, disciplinary faculty, and one another to develop their projects and learn practical research skills. Over multiple semesters (including independent work and weekly group meetings) fellows complete literature reviews, collect data, and present their results at professional conferences. Communities of practice in the library emerge as fellows successfully mentor their peers, grow as scholars, assist students in first-year seminars, serve as resources for peers in their disciplines, and mentor new research fellows.
