Winners Announced in the 2018-19 Student Government Elections

John Tintera elected as President of the Student Body at the ‘Ville.

From Feb. 19-23, the Student Government Association of Millersville University (SGA) opened the polls for the most contested SGA election in the past decade. After a grueling week of campaigning, nine motivated students were put through the election process for the president and three vice-president positions. With a total of 945 votes cast, this year’s election more than tripled the amount of ballots cast in the previous 2017-18 election.

Winners of the positions were announced at the March 1 SGA meeting and include John Tintera as President of the Student Body, Abbey Ford as Vice-President of Advocacy & Outreach, Brooklyn Clouse as Vice-President of Student Organizations and Poushali Ghosh as Vice-President of Finance.

“I look forward to advocating for my fellow Millersville students, converting students’ voices into tangible change, and continuing the positive progress this year’s executive board has started,” said Tintera.

Elected individuals will officially be sworn in at the last meeting of the spring semester, fittingly titled the “transition meeting.” For now, they will begin to shadow the current executive members and learn the ins-and-outs of their new leadership positions.
