MU Ranked Among 30 Safest College Towns in America

Millersville earned the 14th spot on The SafeWise Report’s annual list of the 30 Safest College Towns in America.

Millersville University has once again been deemed a safe college.  Millersville earned the 14th spot on The SafeWise Report’s annual list of the 30 Safest College Towns in America.

This is not the first year MU has found a place on the list. It is the University’s dedicated University Police Force and the combined efforts with local law enforcement and rescue personnel that have continued to secure the Ville’s place.

“On the rambling MU campus, students are protected by the University Police,” The SafeWise Report wrote in their description of Millersville University. “The department provides security coverage 24/7 and is staffed by sworn state-commissioned officers. On-campus safety programs include a six-week sexual violence education program, a men’s-only program that fights gender violence, and a bystander intervention campaign that calls on every student to play a role in ending violence on campus.”

Millersville University Police Chief Pete Anders says it’s important that the force has a positive presence on campus.

“MU is in a great community within Lancaster County. Our students, faculty and staff care and look out for each other which helps create a safe and welcoming climate,” says Anders. “Our officers focus on community policing and work to resolve small problems for our students and to be a friendly, visible face on our campus.”
