Dr. Changfu Chang, professor of Communication & Theatre, will be directing and producing a 30-minute documentary, a digital mini-series, as well as a couple of news packages based on a unique adoption story for BBC. Chang will be directing BBC crews in China and in the U.S.
BBC Radio will also do an audio documentary and Chang will assist its production as well.
The story is about an American family who met their adopted child in China in 1995 and they received an unexpected gift, a note allegedly left by the birth parents for them to meet on a bridge.
Dr. Lisa House, associate professor and licensed psychologist in the Center for Counseling and Human Development at Millersville recently, recently published an article titled “The Effectiveness of Light Therapy for College Student Depression.” The article was about the light box therapy program she conducts at the Center for Counseling and Human Development. It was published in the “Journal of College Student Psychotherapy.”
Drs. Lisa House and Kelsey Backels and graduate assistant, Chelsea Neal, all from the Center for Counseling and Human Development, recently had their manuscript on pet therapy accepted for publication in the “College Student Journal.” The manuscript, “A Doggone Way to Reduce Stress: An Animal Assisted Intervention with College Students,” will be circulated throughout the U.S. and world in the refereed journal.
Dr. Lowery Woodall, assistant professor in Communication & Theatre, was recently named the winner of the “2017 Long Mr. Pointy” award for his book, “Joss Whedon and Race: Critical Essays.”
The Whedon Studies Award (the “Mr. Pointy”) “represent the highest level of scholarship and original contributions to the field of Whedon Studies.”
