Dr. James Delle Named Associate Provost at Millersville University

Will provide leadership and direction for curricular and academic matters.

Dr. James Delle has been appointed as the associate provost for academic administration at Millersville University (MU). In his new role, Delle will be responsible for reporting to the provost/vice president for academic affairs, providing leadership and direction for curricular and academic matters, and assisting the provost in all aspects of academic administration. This position oversees the McNairy Library and Learning Forum, the Office of Learning Services, Global Education, the Office of Sponsored Programs and Research Administration, the Center for Academic Excellence, the General Education program, the First Year Experience program and the Multidisciplinary Studies major. Delle began at MU on July 1, 2018.

“I am very excited about my new position. I face many new challenges and have a lot to learn quickly. It has been exciting to get to understand the culture of this university,” says Delle. “MU is among the best if not the best of the schools in the Pennsylvania State System. I am honored to be here as I feel Millersville is really a place where I can grow professionally and contribute to the important mission of providing high quality education to students in the Commonwealth.”

Before receiving his post at MU, Delle served as the associate dean of the college of arts and sciences and acting associate provost at Shippensburg University. Previously, Delle was on the faculty at Kutztown University for 12 years, where he earned the rank of full professor. During his last six years at Kutztown, Delle was the department chair of the Anthropology and Sociology department. Delle has also worked at Franklin and Marshall and New York University.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in history from Holy Cross College in Worcester, Massachusetts; a master’s in anthropology from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia; and a Ph.D. in anthropology from the University of Massachusetts.
