Come As You Are Kicks Off Homecoming

New conference, food and chocolate!

This year homecoming will feature something new, the “Come As You Are: A Conference for Women.” It’s scheduled for Friday, October 13 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Ware Center in downtown Lancaster. Come As You Are is sponsored by the Women’s Giving Circle at Millersville University to benefit the Dorothy Connolly Women’s Giving Circle Scholarship.

The conference will begin with registration as well as vendor and services from Stella & Dot, Festoon Boutique and artist, Lori Betts Sturgess, just to name a few. After registration, there will be a buffet luncheon with keynote speaker, Susan Eckert. Eckert is the daughter of Dorothy Connolly, for whom the scholarship is named. Eckert is the principal of the Eckert Group and former president of United Way of Lancaster County. She will speak about understanding how to better integrate your personal, professional and/or philanthropic aspirations while increasing your happiness and helping humanity, during her presentation, “Be a Woman Who Gives.”

Additional guest speakers include Anne Kirby from Candy Factory & Groundworks; Kedren Crosby from Work Wisdom, LLC; Anne Deeter Gallaher and Roberta Strickler, instructing a Meditation session, Janet Calhoun, author, and Keely Childers Heany from Susquehanna Style. The conference will close with an afternoon reception featuring wine tastings, compliments of Thorn Hill Vineyards, food pairings by John Moeller and State of Affairs, and Chocolates from Miesse Candies in downtown Lancaster.

There will be two transportation options for those attending the conference. You may receive a parking voucher for the Prince Street Garage or use the MU shuttle bus that will take you to and from the Student Memorial Center at Millersville to the Ware Center in downtown Lancaster. Registration is $30 per person and can be purchased at MUTicketsonline.com or through the Office of Event Management at 717-871-5926.
