400+ Scholarships Available

Get money you don’t have to pay back – Scholarships!

scholarshipPaying for school can be difficult. Graduating without a ton of debt is also difficult, which is why finding ways to pay for school with money that you don’t have to pay back is an ideal way to get an education. Fortunately for Millersville University (MU) students there are over 400 scholarships available. That means there are over 400 ways to pay for school with money that you don’t have to pay back.

The financial aid office at MU is accepting applications for the 2017-18 school year. There are currently between 15 and 20 scholarships still available right. Scholarships that have applications in the financial aid office have a deadline of Feb. 10, but the deadline for other available scholarships can vary. While students may still be able to apply for scholarships, the exact amount awarded varies depending on how much interest the account that those monies are taken from earned the previous year.

The number of awards vary from year-to-year because there are a specified number of scholarships either through foundations or the university, but they don’t always have available money each year. Therefore, a scholarship that was awarded in a previous year may not be available the next year. The University does everything it can to award all available scholarships and they are typically awarded prior to the end or shortly after the spring semester ends.

The majority of scholarships are awarded to returning students, either through academic departments or selection committees that handle specific scholarships. The departments will receive their selection memos detailing what is available and the amounts that are available in February. Departments will be making selections late January to early March. Not all of the scholarships have applications. Many have specific criteria, so for some of them, there is really nothing extra the student can do to further their consideration. If returning students are interested in scholarships, they should contact their academic department.

There are also a handful of scholarships available for incoming freshmen and transfer students through the admissions office.
