Millersville Addresses Dating Violence

Red flags are a reminder – if you see something, say something.

In recognition of Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month, Millersville University has several activities planned throughout the month of February. Red flags will also be on display outside the Francine G. McNairy Library and Learning Forum as part of The Red Flag Campaign. These flags remind those on college campuses to say something in order to address and prevent dating violence. The activities taking place on campus throughout the month are dedicated to the memory of Karlie Hall, an MU student killed by her boyfriend in 2015.

“Dating violence can happen to anyone,” says Jayme Trogus, director of the Center for Health Education and Promotion at MU. “It is very important that as a campus community we help one another learn about and be able to identify the signs of a healthy versus an unhealthy relationship, including that the signs of an unhealthy relationship are not always physically apparent. The Center is planning a month of events to help students learn about relationships, encourage proactive bystander behaviors and understand that help is readily available on our campus.”
