Millersville University recently received recognition for its military friendly practices with awards from the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) and Military Friendly®, a division of Victory Media.
Brett Rettew, a senior at MU and a veteran, nominated the University’s Veterans Resource Center for an award and it caught the attention of the Pennsylvania division of the ESGR. A state program within the Department of Defense; ESGR supports members of the military in their transitions to and from civilian work. This organization honored MU for its efforts at furthering that mission with the Seven Seals Award.
Also, MU again received recognition when the 2017 Military Friendly® Employers and Schools were announced in November. The Military Friendly® Awards compile the institutions that provide the best opportunities for military members and their spouses. The 2017 awards recognized approximately 200 employers and 1,200 post-secondary schools. Millersville received the Military Friendly® Schools designation due to its recruiting and supporting of post-military students.
