McIlwaine to Receive Leadership Award

Long-time Trustee Receives Dan L. King Award.

McIlwaine at Convocation2Dr. William B. McIlwaine, long-time member of Millersville University’s Council of Trustees will receive the Dan L. King award from the American Association of University Administrators (AAUA). McIlwaine will be honored by AAUA at its Leadership Seminar, June 10 – 11, 2016 in San Antonio, Texas.

“The Dan L. King Award for University and College Trustee Leadership” recognizes a current or former trustee or governing board member for their leadership, commitment to higher education and ethical standards. It is named for Dan King, the current president/CEO of AAUA and longest serving executive officer in its history.

“Dr. McIlwaine is a tireless volunteer serving his 21st year as a trustee at Millersville,” said Dr. John Anderson, president of Millersville University. “As a former professor of physical sciences [for over 32 years], he offers an academic balance to the composition of the Council and is a model of civic engagement.”

McIlwaine has held positions as representative to the Foundation Board, vice chair of the programs committee and treasurer of the Pennsylvania Association of Councils of Trustees. Outside of the University he has a long list of affiliations including the local school board, YMCA, Boy and Eagle Scouts, the visual and performing arts, and the Pennsylvania Science Teachers, among many others.  He has endowed both a scholarship in earth sciences as well as a Master Class in music performance.

The Association is chartered as a nonprofit, educational organization in compliance with the laws of the State of New York. AAUA was established as—and remains —a professional organization. Membership in AAUA is open to any individual interested in higher education leadership and administration. The AAUA membership includes presidents, deans, directors, department chairpersons and individuals working in a variety of other administrative positions. Congratulations Dr. McIlwaine, a well-deserved honor! What a great year for you, a medallion, grand marshal of the Millersville Community Parade and now this special accolade!
