28th Annual MLK Breakfast

Randall Robinson will be keynote speaker at Millersville University.

The 28th annual community-wide Martin Luther King Jr. (MLK) Breakfast held by the Crispus Attucks Community Center (CACC), will take place on Monday, January 18, 2016 on the MU campus. The MLK Breakfast commemorates the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King and it strives to inspire people to continue the work King began more than 60 years ago.

The breakfast will be held in Marauder Courts at the Student Memorial Center. Coffee and conversation begins at 6:30 a.m., while the breakfast and program begin at 7 a.m. This year’s speaker is Randall Robinson, Esq.

Robinson is a lawyer, author and activist, who founded TransAfrica. TransAfrica is the oldest African American foreign policy organization in the United States. Their mission is to educate the public and deepen the support for the understanding of issues and cultures of Africans.

Robinson graduated from Virginia Union University in 1967 with a bachelor’s in sociology and then a law degree from Harvard University Law School in 1970. After attending a Black Leadership conference along with the Congressional Black Caucus, Robinson decided to do something about the issues he came across. A lack of African voices in international policy making and a general neglect of black countries led Robinson to create TransAfrica.

Advanced tickets to the event are required and cost $70 per person or $700 per table. Tickets can be purchased online at https://www.eventbrite.com/ or at the CACC Office.

Additionally, volunteers are needed to provide assistance with preparations for the Breakfast and for day of event assistance. Anyone interested in volunteering should contact the CACC office, 717-394-6604 x120.
