Marauder Express Making Rounds

It’s time for the Ville-A-Nator!

Marauder Express

If you’re new to campus or have been weary of stepping outside into the cold the past few months, you may not be familiar with the Marauder Express. Millersville’s first ever food truck is now stationed around campus five days a week to serve food to faculty, staff, students and members of the campus community who don’t have time for a stop at a dining hall.

Originally conceptualized by marketing and special programs manager Pat Benson, the truck sets up shop on different parts of campus depending on the day and time.

Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays between 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. the Marauder Express can be found outside Caputo Hall; on Tuesdays and Thursdays it serves up food outside the Winter Center/Stayer Hall during that same timeframe.  On Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights the truck stops by the Boyer parking lot for late late night starting at 9 p.m.

“The truck was conceived to give students another food location and to feed construction workers building the new dorms,” said Benson. “It’s been well received by all the customers we’ve had at all the events across campus.”

The Ville-A-Nator

The truck’s menu features items including breakfast sandwiches, burgers, chicken tenders, cheesesteaks and, of course, the Ville-A-Nator. The signature sandwich of the Marauder Express, the Ville-A-Nator consists of a hamburger with cheddar cheese on a bed of lettuce, topped with Boom Boom Sauce, French fries and chili, all served on a hamburger bun. For special events, the menu can be customized to the customer’s liking.

The sandwich, which was created by dining services’ executive chef Louis Logan, Judy Graham and food service worker Gail Bower-Geist, has been a hit with students and staff, according to Pat Benson, the marketing and special programs manager.

While the quality of the food has been well received, many students rave about the convenience of the truck.

“It’s nice to just be able to stop there on the weekend with your friends” said junior psychology major Shawna Clay. “The food is good and it’s very convenient.”

“The beauty of the food truck lies in the ease of access which it provides students who are too far from other establishments to face the unrelenting cold in the name of food,” said senior art major Jose Hernandez.

When it isn’t stationed on campus during the week, the food truck can often be found serving up food to customers at off campus events, such as baseball or field hockey games. This May, the Marauder Express will make its way to the visitor’s side of Biemesderfer Stadium for spring commencement.
