Red Dress, Relay and Judge Mathis

Red Dress Luncheon: Friday, Feb. 6, 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.

Lehr Dining Room, Gordinier Hall

Millersville University’s Ninth Annual Red Dress Luncheon is coming up February 6.  Raise your awareness about heart disease in women, its impact on women and how we can fight back by attending this fun and educational luncheon sponsored by the Millersville University’s Employee Wellness Committee.  A video created by Millersville students especially for this event, “Behind the Faces of MU” will be shown.

Lunch will be served at noon. RSVP by Friday, Jan. 30. The cost of the luncheon is $10 per person. Send your check payable to:

Relay For Life: Friday, Feb. 6, 4 p.m.

Marauder Courts, Student Memorial Center

Relay For Life is a 12-hour-long fundraiser event that begins Feb. 6 at 4 p.m. and continues until Feb. 7 at 4 a.m. All proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society.

Volleyball, dodgeball, a Miss Relay competition, karaoke, Zumba and other mini events will be offered to keep participants awake.

The cost of participation is $20 at the door or $10 in advance. You can register and find out more information at www.relayforlife.org/pamillersvilleuniversity.

 

Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration: Wednesday, Feb. 11, 7:30 p.m.

Clair Hall, Winter Visual and Performing Arts Center

Judge Greg Mathis will be speaking at the Winter Visual and Performing Arts Center. He is a national figure known for his advocacy campaigns for equal justice. His inspirational life story, as a street youth who rose from jail to judge, has provided hope to millions who watch him on the award-winning television court show, “Judge Mathis,” each day. In addition, his weekly newspaper column brings social and political insight to readers throughout the country.

He has been recognized for his efforts by numerous newspapers, magazines and television networks. He has appeared on shows such as, “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” “The Today Show,” “Larry King Live,” and “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.” He currently provides legal advice to over three million listeners on “The Steve Harvey Morning Show” and also on his website, AskJudgeMathis.com.

Suggestion: It would be wonderful to have an online video cast of Judge Mathis as he delivers his address to the students and public. Since the event is free it would seem that this would not be an issue. Just a suggestion for your consideration.
