As part of the Hoist the Colors campaign, a movement to unify Millersville Athletics for the 2014-2015 season, a new secondary fight song was composed. The song was written and composed by Dr. Hubert Toney Jr., director of bands at Millersville University.   “‘Hoist the Colors’ was created for the dual purpose of the Hoist the Colors campaign and for the Marauder Marching Band’s pregame show,” Toney said.   The idea for the new fight song came about when Toney met with Lindsay Shehan, the cheerleading coach. Toney hopes that “Hoist the Colors” will “…facilitate school spirit, add to the collegiate atmosphere and be used in the Marauder Marching Band pregame show.”

“‘Hoist the Colors’ was written for the Millersville University community. It is for everyone to enjoy and hopefully everyone will join in and sing it when the band plays it at athletic and special events. At the top of the conductor’s score and each instrumental part it states: Dedicated to the Millersville University Marauder Marching Band and all who wear the black and gold proudly,” said Toney.
