Millersville University was recently designated a “Military Friendly School” by Victory Media for the third year in a row.  The Military Friendly title is reserved for those schools that excel at providing military students with the resources needed for success in both the classroom and after graduation.

The Military Friendly School designation is used as a resource for veterans who want to make the best decision for their post-military career. Only the top 20 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools in the country are given this prestigious designation.

Millersville currently has approximately 212 veterans and 31 ROTC members. One reason why Millersville is military friendly is because veterans have their own place on campus, the Veterans Resource Center at Mercer House. This is where the veterans’ work-study employee office is located and it’s the meeting place and central hub for the Student Veterans Association. The Veterans Resource Center is equipped with a kitchen, TV, washer and dryer, computers, printers and a place for veterans to study and relax.

Millersville also offers its veterans early orientation, advising and counseling services.

“You do not have to be a vet, ROTC member or have any association with the military to stop by. Everyone is welcome,” says Nathan Green, president of Student Veteran’s Association.
