We Love(d) a Parade

Honors College takes home “Judges’ Choice Float Award” at Millersville Community Parade.

The Millersville Community Parade attracted hundreds of viewers under a bright blue sky on Saturday, October 26.

The “Adventure Time” crew was awarded first place in the costume contest’s group category.

The Millersville University Activities Board was awarded second place. Members of that group dressed as bumblebees.

Sam Knighton, of Lancaster, won first place in the adult individual category, and best overall costume, for his homemade robot costume.

Kathy Garreth, Jack Stegeman and Harry Bechtold, who were part of the Special Olympics of Lancaster County float, were runners-up in the individual costume category.

Other winners in the Millersville Community Parade:

Antique car: Brubaker Inc.’s 1941 Chevy pickup truck.

Marching unit: 1st, Millersville University Marching Band; 2nd, Central York High School Marching Band; 3rd, Lancers Alumni Drum & Bugle Corps.

Non-instrumental marching: 1st, Expressions; 2nd, Millersville University Dance Team.

Color guard/military: Zembo Shrine Color Guard.

Baton/twirler: Kay’s Reflections.

Commercial floats: 1st, Oak Leaf Manor; 2nd, Field of Screams.

Civic and community floats: 1st, Pet Guardians; 2nd, Immerse International.

University floats: 1st, Student Alumni Association; 2nd, Phi Sigma Pi National Honor Fraternity.

Judges’ choice float award: MU Honors College Student Association

Andrew T. Scheid was the 2013 grand marshal for the parade.
