With the start of the new year Dr. René Muñoz has a new title and has moved from the Division of University Advancement to the Division of Academic Affairs. Munoz, the former director of foundation and government support, is now the director of sponsored programs and research administration, reporting to Dr. Jeff Adams, associate provost for academic administration.

This change is being made to allow for increased interaction with faculty, students and staff in preparing and submitting grant and contract proposals. The change was made in light of the closing of the University’s Soar to Greatness capital campaign and after a thorough review and discussion by the two divisions. Munoz will continue to oversee faculty and staff public grant activity, as well as contracts involving faculty and staff with profit and nonprofit organizations. Private philanthropic work with corporations and foundations will remain with University Advancement. Last year Munoz assisted faculty and staff in submitting approximately 120 grant proposals totaling $22 million.
