Ware Center and Director Recognized by Lancaster County Magazine

Two “Best of Lancaster” honors, as selected by readers, went to MU.

The Ware Center, Millersville University Lancaster

The Ware Center, Millersville University Lancaster, and Director Harvey Owen received two honors in the 2012 “Best of Lancaster” reader’s survey in Lancaster County Magazine. The Ware Center ranked third in the category of performing art venues, while Owen ranked fifth as the Most Civic-Minded Lancastrian.

The results of this 23rd survey were decided upon by readers of the magazine.

The Ware Center, which opened in July 2010, is comprised of classrooms, performances spaces, meeting rooms, art galleries and a recital hall that can double as a recording studio. The Ware Center is now halfway through its second season.

“I was surprised and pleased. After only one year presenting a full season of performances for the public, we came in right behind two venues that have been in business for decades. It was a pretty impressive showing, indicating we have had a very quick and large impact on the community around us,” shared Owen.

Readers must write in their selected winners, because the magazine does not provide a list for readers to choose from. “It’s all the more impressive since we weren’t among a list of possibilities. We had to have a ‘memorable’ impact on the public in order for them to have remembered to write us in,” stated Owen.
