Mountain Season is done, like the front wheel on Jake’s bike.

The mountain bike season started off with a rough stretch, with one mechanical after another, we hoped for a weekend of mechanical-free riding. That day finally came three weekends into the season when two of our members traveled all the way up to Vermont  for a weekend of muddy riding.  Rodney and Rachel both raced hard in the cross country race where Rodney placed 13th and Rachel placed 8th.  The following day only Rodney raced the short track cross country race where he took 3rd place.

The finally race weekend was at Blue Mountain Ski resort.  We had a large crew of Millersville cyclist come out to both race and spectate.   The Saturday brought a xc course that started at the bottom of the ski slope with a fire road climb to the top and single track down.  Tyler entered men’s c and finished well, taking 12th in his first bike race.  In men’s B after suffering through the climb Greg took a detour into the woods and destroyed a front wheel while Rodney had a rear flat only to patch it and flat the front before the first decent was over.  Sunday brought the short track xc race where Tyler took 10th in c and Rodney won b, finishing off the mountain season on a good note. Photo’s from the season to come.

So now comes the long winter months spent on the trainer…oh joy.
