It seems like your plants are growing very well. Clay tablets are a great idea for maintaining ph. I also think that adding a small fan would be a good idea to keep them strong. Once you move them out from directly under the light they may get better as well
Since Josh and I are a bit behind, I would love to hear how that research turns out. I can only believe that we will be facing some of the same problems. Good luck, I hope all works out well for you!
I saw that in one of your previous posts that you had mentioned adding clay pellets to your system before going on spring break. I think you said it was to stabilize the pH level. I was just curious how that works and thanks for putting that on your post because I will talk to my partner about possibly doing that. If you get a chance to talk before or after one of our next classes I would appreciate it because I would like to know exactly how those pellets work, thanks.
Hey, I’m glad you are happy with how your plants are coming along. I noticed that you said something about your lettuce looking flimsy. I don’t know if I am right about this or not but there are different types of lettuce, like romaine lettuce and that grows straight up and doesn’t flop over. My partner and I are also growing Mesclun lettuce and I think that is the way it grows. I know what you mean though when you say it’s sagging but maybe that’s just how it is supposed to look. I’ll let you know if I find out whether or not that is normal.
Your plants have been growing really well. I have been noticing Matt and I’s plants are very flimsy and week as well. I think what we should have done was installed a fan the day we turned on the grow light. If there is a fan constantly blowing on the plants it will cause them to grow more sturdy and strong, simulating the wind if they were grown outside. I think it might be too late to do this though, but I myself am not sure. We should talk it over with the other groups under this particular grow light.
