Internship Fair – November 1, 2011

Thinking about interning on campus or abroad? Stop by the Office of Global Education’s table at the Job and Internship Fair from 11am-1:30pm on Tuesday, November 1st at the SMC Multi-Purpose Room (MPR)! Global Education will provide information to students who are interested in interning both on campus in the Global Education office or abroad. Past MU students have interned abroad for academic credit in Australia, London, South Africa, Canada and more!

If you are any major other than what is listed above, you should contact your academic advisor(s) ASAP, provide them with the job description and ask if they would be willing to grant you credit for the internship. Global Education only accepts students who would be interning for academic credit.

To apply for an internship at the Office of Global Education, you will need to go through the Office of Experiential Learning and Career Management (the Internship Office) (http://www.millersville.edu/ices/internships/students.php) and complete the process.  Once you submit your resume to them, they will forward it to Global Ed., who will be in touch with you shortly!  You need to complete the process with the Internship Office by Wednesday, November 9th.

Spring Internship Program

Job Description: All interns will promote study abroad and international programs by creating brochures, information packets, and applications; coordinate special events and excursions for exchange students including a welcome dinner; assist coordinators with special projects as assigned; create spreadsheets and collect data for incoming and outgoing study abroad programs; extensive study abroad database management; support outgoing students during the pre-departure phase and incoming exchange students during the pre-arrival phase; issue International Student Identity Cards and complete administrative tasks.

Qualifications: Must be highly organized and possess ability to multi-task, strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills; proficiency with Word and Excel are required. Use of Outlook and Publisher preferred. Previous international experience a plus but not required.

Targeted majors are international studies, business, government and political affairs, anthropology, sociology, and communications. There are unpaid internship opportunities offered for both the fall and spring semesters as well as the summer. The summer/fall/spring internship program provides the opportunity to earn 3 academic credits while working in the office 15 hours per week.

The internship application process, including submission of a professional resume, must be completed with the Internship Office by no later than November 10, 2010.
