Do you think you could last a day working from a wheelchair? The staff at the Ware Center, Millersville University Lancaster, did as they took part in the program “Working on Wheels” on July 20. The program was started by Susan Shaeffer, a disabled woman who volunteers at the Ware Center. After spending the day in wheelchairs, Shaeffer spoke to the staff about the difficulties people who are handicapped encounter on a daily basis. The staff also shared their own personal experiences.

“I didn’t expect it to be so physically challenging,” said Suzette Cahill, receptionist at the Ware Center. “This experience was eye opening and is something everyone should experience.”

Schaffer continually raises awareness for people with disabilities, sharing the program and speaking to people of all ages and backgrounds. For more information, visit “Working on Wheels” website.
