Fueled By Gaming by Matthew Reichard

I enjoy writing about video games. Since I was a little boy, I have always had this passion for video games. I would sit for hours, my young eyes glued to the television and my body paralyzed as I was unable to pull myself away from the worlds within the screen. Any chance I had at getting that controller back in my hand I jumped at. As I matured, I wanted another outlet for that passion so that I had the ability to share it with friends and family, and maybe one day, the world. As I moved through school, I discovered how much I loved to write. Whether it was for class or some basic words I’d jot down in my free time, I always enjoyed putting pen to paper or typing away on my computer. After years of reading video game writings from major sites such as IGN and GameSpot, I finally put two and two together and found my outlet. Why not just write about video games? I began writing little pieces about my past experiences with some of my favorite games growing up. It was an incredible feeling to be able to put all these thoughts and experiences into a tangible product that I could show others. I felt very proud of what I had started to do. This passion only grew, leading me to begin reviewing games and going more in depth with the games industry. Gaming and the world that surrounds it is a fascinating one, and I want to make sure that others who may not be as entrenched in it all understand just how big and great gaming is. My whole goal with writing about games has always been to have an outlet to share the experiences ive had with games that have shaped me into who I am, and it is because of that passion that I am here today seeking a degree in Digital Journalism. It always comes back around to my deep and never dying passion for video games. Having the ability to use that passion to write all that I possibly can has been a dream come true, and I am fueled by this passion that allows me to write about what I love so much.
