Nanostructured Metals

Transmission electron micrograph in brightfield (top) and darkfield (bottom) mdoes of a nanocrystalline brass alloy after annealing at 600 C.

Metals have a variety of properties which are size dependent. Typically their mechanical properties can be enhanced or uniquely controlled as a function of size. Nanostructured metals pose many unique opportunities, but they also present many unique challenges in processing. In the related pages, some of both will be discussed. Please contact me with questions or to inquire about collaborative opportunities in these areas.
