This engine is the new class project in ITEC 281 (along with a heat treatment and analysis project), so it isn’t a “side” project, so to speak. It is an interesting project, however, and it is a common beginner’s engine. The design was modified in a number of ways to make production easier and the design more robust. The most notable additions are the welded sheet metal air tank (no more than 15 psi!) and the lost-foam cast aluminum base.
