Oral histories are collected on an ongoing basis. Projects are typically embedded within courses and have resulted in several distinct oral history collections:
- The MU150th Anniversary Women’s Oral History Project
- The MU 20th Anniversary of the Women’s Commission Project
- Lancaster Community Oral History Project featuring interviews with members of the African American and Latino/a communities in Lancaster, PA.
The Millersville University 150th Anniversary Women’s Oral History Project. Ganser Library Archives & Special Collections and the Women’s Studies Program at Millersville University compiled over 50 oral histories from women students, faculty, and staff at the Millersville, focusing primarily on the years 1928-1962. Over 100 Millersville University students worked on this two-year research project. Oral history interviews were conducted by Millersville University students during the Fall 2003 semester. Students in subsequent semesters analyzed the interviews and identified themes. These themes were further developed and are the centerpiece for the Women’s Oral History Project exhibit March 15 – April 12, 2005, in Millersville University ‘s Ford Atrium in McComsey Hall.
